The Pakistan Cricket Board has completed consultations on the Pakistani squad and management for the tour of New Zealand. According to sources, interim head coach Aqib Javed is likely to be retained in his position for the tour of New Zealand.

Sources say that due to lack of time, the PCB will advertise for the appointment of a head coach, after which names will be shortlisted and then the coach will be appointed, which does not seem to be possible immediately, however, the name of Muhammad Yousuf is also under consideration for the batting coach.

According to sources, Mohammad Rizwan will remain the captain of the ODI squad, while major changes are going to be made in the T20 squad, including the captain. Sources say that Shadab Khan is a strong candidate for the captaincy of the T20 team. Even during the tour of Zimbabwe, Mohammad Rizwan was not the captain of the T20 team; Salman Agha captained it.

Sources say that Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam and Naseem Shah are not included in the T20 squad, while Mohammad Haris, Sufyan Muqeem, Irfan Niazi and Abbas Afridi have joined the squad. According to sources, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf will also be part of the T20 squad.

The possible T20 squad for the tour of New Zealand includes Shadab Khan (captain), Muhammad Haris, Sufyan Muqim, Irfan Niazi, Shaheen Afridi, Abbas Afridi, Jehandad Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Umair Yousuf Bin Yousuf, Khushdil Shah, Hassan Nawaz, Abdul Samad, Haris Rauf, Usman Khan, Hussain Talat and Muhammad Ali.
