Defending champions Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalandars by 8 wickets in the opening match of the HBL Pakistan Super League. In the match played at Rawalpindi Stadium, defending champions Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field against Lahore Qalandars.

Qalandars’ Abdullah Shafiq played an innings of 66 runs and hit 3 sixes and 6 fours, Sikandar Raza scored 23 runs, while Haris Rauf scored 10 and Muhammad Naeem scored 8 runs. Islamabad United achieved Lahore Qalandars’ target of 140 runs in the 18th over for the loss of 2 wickets. For Islamabad United, Colin Munro remained unbeaten on 59 runs, hitting a six and 7 fours, while Salman Agha remained unbeaten on 41 runs. In addition, Sahibzada Farhan scored 25 runs off 24 balls, which included 3 sixes.
