Indian batsman Rohit Sharma has surpassed captain Shubman Gill to become the number one batsman in the ICC ODI rankings. Rohit Sharma has moved up two places in the latest ICC ODI rankings released on Wednesday to become the number one batsman, surpassing current captain Shubman Gill.
He scored an unbeaten century in the third and final ODI against Australia in Sydney to lead India to a 9-wicket victory, while he scored 202 runs in the 3 matches of the series. Rohit Sharma has become the world’s number one batsman in the ICC ODI rankings for the first time.

The former Indian captain achieved this feat at the age of 38 years and 182 days, thus becoming the oldest batsman in the world to become number one in the ODI rankings. The second position in the ICC ODI batsmen rankings is held by Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran. The third position in the rankings is held by Indian captain Shubman Gill, while Babar Azam is in fourth position.
