The world football governing body, FIFA, has revealed a record-breaking prize pool for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to the announcement, a total of USD 655 million will be distributed as prize money during the tournament.Under the announced structure, the winner of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive USD 50 million compared to USD 42 million awarded to the champion of the previous edition.
The runner-up team will receive USD 33 million while the third-placed team will earn USD 29 million and the fourth-placed team will receive USD 27 million. Teams finishing fifth to eighth will be awarded USD 19 million each while those placed ninth to sixteenth will receive USD 15 million per team. Teams finishing from 17th to 32nd position will earn USD 11 million each whereas teams ranked 33rd to 48th will receive USD 9 million per team. Additionally, every team that qualifies for the Football World Cup will be granted an extra USD 1.5 million by FIFA to support preparation costs.
