India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs in group match. The match played at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Pakistani captain Salman Agha won the toss and invited India to bat first. Batting first, India scored 175 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Indian opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed in the first over by Salman Agha without scoring any runs. The second batsman to be dismissed for India was Ishan Kishan, who scored 77 runs off 40 balls before being bowled by Saim Ayub. In the 15th over, Tilak Verma was dismissed by Saim Ayub for 25 runs at a total score of 126. Hardik Pandya became Saim Ayub’s victim on the very next ball without scoring any runs. India’s fifth wicket against Pakistan fell for 159 runs when Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed by Usman Tariq for 32 runs. Apart from them, Dubey scored 27 while Axar Patel was dismissed without scoring any runs. For Pakistan, Saim Ayub got 3 wickets while Usman Tariq, Shaheen Afridi and Salman Agha got one wicket each, one player was run out.
In response to India’s target of 176 runs, the Pakistani team was bowled out for 114 runs in 18 overs. For Pakistan, Usman Khan scored 44, Shaheen Afridi 23, Shadab Khan 14, Faheem Ashraf 10, Saim Ayub 6, Babar Azam 5, Salman Ali Agha and Muhammad Nawaz scored 4 runs each while Sahibzada Farhan, Abrar Ahmed and Usman Tariq could not score any runs.
