Dubai: Pakistan defeated the UAE by 41 runs in the crucial match of the Asia Cup T20 tournament to qualify for the Super Four stage of the event. Chasing Pakistan’s target of 147 runs, the UAE team was bowled out for 105 runs.In the Group A match played in Dubai, UAE won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first.
Pakistan scored 146 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs against UAE. Fakhar Zaman played an innings of 50 runs for the Green Shirts while Shaheen Shah Afridi remained unbeaten on 29 runs off 14 balls.Apart from this, Saim Ayub scored 0, Sahibzada Farhan 5, captain Salman Ali Agha 20, Hassan Nawaz 3, Khushdil Shah and Muhammad Nawaz scored 4, 4 and Muhammad Haris 18 runs. For the UAE, Junaid Siddique got 4 wickets for 18 runs, while Simranjeet Singh got 3 wickets.
Chasing a target of 147 runs, the UAE team could not play openly in front of the Pakistani bowlers and the entire team was dismissed in the 18th over after scoring 105 runs. Rahul Chopra was the standout for the UAE with 35 runs. For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed got 2 wickets each, while Saim Ayub and Salman Ali Agha got one wicket each.
