Pakistan white-ball cricket team coach Mike Hesson has revealed Babar Azam’s batting position in the T20 series against South Africa. Babar Azam, who is the second-highest run-scorer in T20 international cricket, was left out of the short-form team after the series against South Africa in December last year.
Now, after his failure in the Asia Cup 2025, Babar Azam has been reinstated in the team for the home T20 series against South Africa. Talking to the media at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, national white-ball cricket team coach Mike Hesson termed Babar’s return as a welcome one for the team.
I fully support Babar Azam’s selection. Fakhar Zaman was sent back to first-class cricket so that he could improve his technique. We spoke to him and he wants to focus on ODI cricket again,” he said. So we gave him a temporary rest from T20s. The head coach added that this created an opportunity for a top-order batsman and this is the perfect opportunity for Babar to make a comeback to the team.
