LAHORE: England batter Ben Duckett produced a record-breaking performance in the ICC Champions Trophy clash against Australia, scoring a majestic 165 runs off 142 balls at the Gaddafi Stadium.
His innings, which included 17 boundaries and 3 sixes, not only powered England to a commanding 351/8, but also rewrote multiple records in the tournament’s history.
Duckett went past Nathan Astle’s 145 from 2004*, registering the highest individual score in Champions Trophy history. He also eclipsed Joe Root’s 133 in 2017, now holding the record for England’s best-ever score in the event.
England’s total of 351/8 set a new benchmark for the highest team total in the competition, overtaking New Zealand’s 347/4 (2004). The score also became the third-highest ODI total at Gaddafi Stadium, behind Pakistan’s 375/3 vs Zimbabwe (2015) and Sri Lanka’s 357/9 vs Bangladesh (2008).
