Pakistan’s 2025-26 domestic cricket season will begin with the Hanif Mohammad Trophy, featuring 12 regional teams, starting on August 29 in Bahawalpur, Multan, Karachi, and Rahim Yar Khan.

The tournament will comprise 30 four-day non–first-class matches, with the 12 teams divided into two groups. Each team will play five matches, and the top side from each group will qualify for the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (first-class tournament).

Group A features Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Karachi Whites, Lahore Blues, and Quetta. Group B includes Dera Murad Jamali, FATA, Karachi Blues, Larkana, Multan, and Rawalpindi.

The event will run from August 29 to September 25 and is named in honor of Pakistan’s legendary opening batter and former Test captain Hanif Mohammad. Representing Pakistan from 1952 to 1969, Hanif played 55 Test matches, scoring 3,915 runs, and recorded Pakistan’s first triple century in Test cricket. In 2020, he was inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame.
