A team of female climbers from different parts of Pakistan created history by scaling the 5,400-meter-high Bri La Peak in Gilgit-Baltistan. This historic expedition of female climbers was organized on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, which included female climbers from all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad.
The team was led by Afzon Bibi from Gilgit-Baltistan, while the team included journalists Mona Khan and Amina Shabbir from Islamabad, Maria Bangash from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zeba Batool from Gilgit-Baltistan, Bisma Hassan and Iqra Jilani from Punjab, Laraib Batool from Balochistan, Madiha Syed from Sindh, and Shahreen Khan from Islamabad.
The 4-day expedition began on September 7 from Skardu where the women climbers conducted training and hiking exercises on Deosai Top. Renowned mountaineers Sajid Sadpara, Ashraf Sadpara, Fida Ali and Sharif Sadpara guided the team. According to sources, the team successfully scaled the peak on September 10.
