The player categories for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have been announced. A total of 89 local players have been divided into five different categories for this year’s tournament. Sixteen players have been included in the Platinum category. Salman Ali Agha, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Nawaz and Abrar Ahmed have been promoted from the Diamond to the Platinum category, while Sahibzada Farhan has moved up from Gold to Platinum. Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan have retained their places in the Platinum category.

Eleven players have been placed in the Diamond category, including Mohammad Wasim Jr., Sufiyan Muqeem and Salman Mirza, who have been promoted from Gold. The Gold category includes 32 players, while 30 players have been placed in the Silver and Emerging categories combined. Before the PSL auction, each franchise will be allowed to retain a total of four players, with a maximum of one player per category. The registration deadline for foreign players has been extended to February 3, while the first-ever and historic PSL players’ auction will take place on February 11.
