SL Eliminated AFG, Seal Qualification for Themselves and BAN

Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets in Abu Dhabi, eliminating Afghanistan from the Asia Cup 2025. Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan opted to bat first, and Mohammad Nabi’s impressive 22-ball 60 helped his team score 169/8 in 20 overs. In response, Kusal Mendis anchored Sri Lanka’s chase with a 52-ball 74, leading his team to victory in 18.4 overs, losing only 4 wickets.

The result sees Sri Lanka and Bangladesh qualify for the Super 4s from Group B, while Pakistan and India have advanced from Group A after Pakistan’s 41-run win over the UAE. Pakistan will face India in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2025 on September 21 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium .
