Great Britain defeated Pakistan Junior Hockey Team by five goals to one in the Sultan of Johor Hockey Cup. Great Britain put in a brilliant performance in the Sultan of Johor Cup in Johor Baru, Malaysia, scoring three goals in the first quarter to put Pakistan under pressure. Henry Merrickham scored two and Jonny Habbit scored one.
In the second quarter, Sufyan Khan reduced the deficit by scoring a penalty corner, but after that, the Pakistan junior team could not score any goals. The Pakistan team could not take advantage of the penalty stroke awarded by the third umpire and Sufyan Khan’s hit was stopped by the British goalkeeper.
Neither team could score in the third quarter and Great Britain scored two more goals in the final quarter to secure the win. The Pakistani team will play the third match against arch-rivals India on Tuesday.
