ICC changes T20 cricket powerplay rules.

by Shahrooz Ahmad

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has changed the T20 cricket powerplay rules. The ICC has arranged the powerplay overs per over in the new rules and the new powerplay rules will be implemented from July.

According to the new law, in a game of less than 20 overs, the powerplay can start or end in the middle of the overs. In a full 20-over innings, the powerplay will still consist of 6 overs. An attempt has been made to keep the powerplay close to 30% of the scheduled overs of the innings.

The powerplay in an 8-over innings will consist of 2.2 overs, while in a 5-over innings the powerplay will consist of 1.3 overs, during which two fielders will remain outside the circle. The ICC Cricket Committee has given final approval to the changes in the powerplay rules.
