The PCB has announced the central contracts of national cricketers for 2025-26. No cricketer from the national cricket team was found eligible for Category A, due to which the board removed Category A from central contracts.
The PCB has given contracts to 30 players, including 10 each in categories B, C and D based on performance, while the contracts will be effective from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. Last year, 27 players were given contracts and this year the number has increased to 30, while 12 new players have been added this year.
Ahmed Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Hassan Ali, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Muhammad Abbas, Muhammad Haris, Muhammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Mirza and Sufyan Muqeem have been included among the new players. 9 players have managed to retain their previous category while 8 players failed to get a contract.
This year, no player was included in Category A, which is why this category has been abolished for the time being. Last year, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were included in Category A. This year, Naseem Shah moved from Category B to Category C, and Test captain Shan Masood, who was included in Category B, moved from Category B to Category D.
