Manchester Police have dropped the alleged rape case against Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali. According to sources, the rape case against Haider Ali was dropped due to insufficient evidence. Haider Ali, who was acquitted of the rape charge, will also get his passport back in the next few hours.
After the case against Haider Ali is over, he will be able to come and go freely in the UK. Police took extra time to investigate Haider Ali but no charges could be proven against the cricketer. Haider Ali was arrested by police two weeks after a girl accused him of rape.
According to Manchester Police, a complaint of sexual assault was received on August 4 and the incident allegedly took place on July 23 in the Manchester area. Police said that a 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and the suspect was released on bail pending the completion of the investigation into the incident.
The incident took place during the recent tour of England by the Pakistan Shaheens cricket team. On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board had suspended cricketer Haider Ali. The PCB said that the national team batsman Haider Ali is under investigation by the Manchester Police in a criminal case, due to which he was suspended.
