Women’s World Cup Qualifier: Pakistan beats West Indies to clinch third consecutive win.
In the eighth match of the Women’s World Cup Qualifier, the Pakistan Women’s team defeated the West Indies by 65 runs. Chasing a target of 192 runs, the entire West Indies team was bowled out for 126 runs in the 40th over.
For the West Indies, Alia Alina (22) and Shabika Gajnaby (21) were the top scorers, Genelia Glasgow (18) and Shameen Campbell (14). For Pakistan, Fatima Sana took 3 wickets, while Rameen Shamim and Nashra Sindhu took two wickets each.
Earlier, in a match held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the captain of the Pakistan Women’s team won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the national women’s team was bowled out for 191 runs in the last over.
Sidra Amin and Muniba Ali were the top scorers for Pakistan with 54 and 33 runs, Sidra Nawaz scored 23 and Alia Riaz scored 20 runs. For the West Indies, Hayley Mathews, Effie Fletcher and Karishma Ra Mehra took 2 wickets each, while Ashmani Munesar and Alia Alina took one wicket each.
