West Indies’ aggressive all-rounder Andre Russell has announced his retirement from international cricket. Andre Russell will retire after playing two matches during the five-match T20 series against Australia in the West Indies this month.
The T20 series between Australia and West Indies will be played from July 20 to 28. Andre Russell will play his last international match on July 22 at his home ground Sabina Park in Jamaica.
The West Indies Cricket Board issued a message regarding Andre Russell’s retirement, saying, “For 15 years, you played with heart and passion for the glory of the West Indies. Thank you.”
It should be noted that Russell played one Test, 56 ODIs and 84 T20 matches for the West Indies. He was also part of the West Indies team that won the T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016. The 37-year-old Russell has played only the T20 format since 2019 and is now retiring from international cricket a year before the 2026 T20 World Cup.
