In the final league match of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings by 79 runs. In the match played in Rawalpindi, Karachi Kings won the toss and elected to field against Islamabad United.
This match was designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Day in PSL 10. Islamabad United took to the field wearing a special pink kit while Karachi Kings participated in the match wearing pink caps.
Islamabad United batted first and scored 251 runs for the loss of five wickets. Openers Alex Hales and Sahibzada Farhan gave the team a brilliant start. The two shared a partnership of 153 runs for the first wicket. Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for 73 runs off 41 balls, while Alex Hales scored 88 runs off just 35 balls, hitting eight sixes and six fours. Shadab Khan was dismissed for 42 runs.
In pursuit of the target, Karachi Kings’ Tim Seifert and David Warner provided a 56-run opening stand. Seifert was dismissed for 26 runs, while in-form James Vince was dismissed by Imad Wasim. He scored eight runs. Apart from them, Saad Baig scored five runs. After Karachi Kings captain David Warner was dismissed on an individual score of 43, Karachi Kings lost hope.
In pursuit of the big target, Karachi Kings’ wickets kept falling intermittently and after losing eight wickets at 114, Abbas Afridi and Amir Jamal put up some resistance. Abbas Afridi was dismissed for 34 and Amir Jamal for 16 runs and the entire team could make 172. For Islamabad United, Shadab Khan got four wickets and Imad Wasim got two wickets.
