Port of Spain: An unbeaten 66-run stand between Justin Greaves 64 and captain Roston Chase 36 helped West Indies recover to 239 for 5 on a rain-affected opening day of the 2nd Test against Pakistan at Queen’s Park Oval on Sunday. Pakistan’s bowlers shared the five wickets to fall. Mohammad Ali led the attack with 2 for 49, while Sajid Khan, Ali Usman and debutant Ubaid Shah took one each. Bad light ended play early after 74 overs.
After West Indies elected to bat, openers Brandon King 46 and Tagenarine Chanderpaul put on 49 before Chanderpaul fell to Ali. A rain delay forced an early lunch. After the break, Ali Usman had King lbw after a successful Pakistan review and Sajid dismissed Kavem Hodge 10 via DRS to leave the hosts 91 for 3. Debutant Ubaid Shah claimed his first Test wicket when Amir Jangoo was caught behind for 120 for 4. Shai Hope 29 and Greaves added 53 before tea. Ali struck again after tea to bowl Hope and make it 173 for 5.Greaves reached his fifty off 92 balls and, with Chase, took West Indies to stumps unbeaten. Greaves finished on *64 off 125 balls with 8 fours. Awais Zafar and Ubaid Shah received their Test caps before play.
