Port of Spain: Spinners Sajid Khan 4/32 and Ali Usman 2/29 shared six wickets as Pakistan tightened their grip on the 2nd Test against West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval on Tuesday. At stumps on day 3, West Indies were 103 for 6 in their second innings, leading by just 60 runs with four wickets remaining. Earlier, Abdullah Shafique’s unbeaten 160 powered Pakistan to 387 all out and a crucial 43-run first-innings lead after resuming on 266 for 2.
Babar Azam was run out for 88 early on day 3, ending a 183-run stand with Abdullah. Pakistan then lost three quick wickets but Abdullah held firm. He reached 150 with a six off Kavem Hodge and finished 160 off 323 balls with 15 fours and 3 sixes. Sajid Khan supported with a handy 30 in a 59-run 7th-wicket stand. Jomel Warrican took 6 for 112 for West Indies.
In their second innings, West Indies lost openers Tagenarine Chanderpaul 17 and Amir Jangoo 13 to Sajid. Ali Usman then trapped Kavem Hodge 34 lbw after a Pakistan review. Sajid removed Shai Hope 15 and nightwatchman Jayden Seales 0 before Ali Usman struck with the last ball of the day to dismiss captain Roston Chase 17, caught and bowled.
Sajid now has 8 wickets in the match, while Ali Usman claimed two in 16.5 overs and conceded runs at the economy rate of only 1.72.
