The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has refused to play the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy in India. In his statement, PHF President Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani said that we have formally requested the Asian Hockey Federation to shift the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2026 tournament or all of Pakistan’s matches to a neutral venue.
Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani stated that this decision was taken in view of the current sensitive bilateral situation between Pakistan and India and the security conditions, to ensure a safe, dignified and conducive environment for our national players and officials. He further added that Pakistan is fully committed to the Asian Champions Trophy and the promotion of world hockey. We are ready to compete on the field against all FIH member countries, including India, and stand by the principle of keeping sports free from politics. The Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, scheduled in India, is to feature Pakistan, India, China, Japan, Malaysia and Korea. The Asian Champions Trophy will be played from October 27 to November 5 in Jalandhar and Mohali.
