Director High Performance and Chief selector Aqib Javed claimed on a podcast that Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten “overruled every selector” and had “no plan” after Pakistan lost the first Test to England in Multan. He said the PCB intervened, changed the pitch and brought in spinners, which turned the series around.

Jason Gillespie fired back on the Fast Bowling Cartel YouTube show. He denied Javed ever asked about plans and said selectors just gave orders. Gillespie argued the real issue was playing on a worn-out “day 10 or 11” pitch that was even sprinkled with sand. He also said spinners weren’t picked earlier because of strict fitness rules set before Javed’s panel arrived.

Gillespie ended his rant by calling Javed a muppet and also slammed Kirsten’s sacking saying he was dropped as white-ball coach despite not working for 3 months. More than a year after both coaches quit, the blame game with the PCB continues.
