Pakistan’s batting lineup collapsed badly in the first innings of the opening match of the three-Test series, as the entire team was dismissed for 171 runs in 48.1 overs. In the first Test being played at Leeds, England captain Joe Root won the toss and elected to bowl first. Pakistan’s innings began with Azan Awais and Imam-ul-Haq. However, Azan Awais was dismissed LBW off Robinson on the very first ball of the innings, while Shan Masood was also trapped LBW by Robinson with the score on 6. After that, Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique tried to resist, but both were dismissed for 42 and 61 runs respectively. No other Pakistani batter was able to withstand the English bowlers. Salman Ali Agha scored 21, Khurram Shahzad made 14, and Mohammad Rizwan contributed 12 runs. For England, Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue took five wickets each.
