Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal revealed the reason behind Babar Azam’s departure from the team
Babar Azam was part of Islamabad United at the start of PSL in 2016. He played for Karachi Kings for 6 seasons from 2017 to 2022. In the 2023 season, Babar and Karachi Kings parted ways and Babar became part of Peshawar Zalmi. He is also the captain of Peshawar Zalmi.
Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal said in an interview that there were differences between Karachi Kings and Babar regarding the batting position. According to Salman Iqbal, we wanted Babar to bat at number three, but he was not ready to change his role. That is why we had to release him.
It should be noted that 30-year-old Babar Azam has always preferred opening throughout his T20 career, whether it is international or franchise cricket. Babar has opened 76 times out of 90 innings in the PSL.
