A day after announcing that it would not send its team to India for the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh has also imposed a ban on the telecast of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was released by Kolkata Knight Riders due to threats from Hindu extremist elements, the Bangladesh Cricket Board held an emergency meeting and advised the government not to send the team to India for the T20 World Cup.

Acting on the BCB’s request, Bangladesh’s sports adviser announced yesterday that player security is the top priority and that the Bangladesh team will not travel to India for the T20 World Cup. Subsequently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board formally requested the ICC to relocate Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup matches from India to Sri Lanka. In the latest development, the Bangladesh government has now banned the telecast of the Indian Premier League within the country.
