Indian cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav has confirmed that despite Pakistan’s boycott, the Indian team will travel to Sri Lanka to play their T20 World Cup match against their traditional rivals. In the ICC T20 World Cup, the group-stage match between Pakistan and India is scheduled for February 15 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. However, the Government of Pakistan has announced that it will not play the T20 World Cup match against India on Sunday, February 15. Following Pakistan’s refusal to play against India in the group match, the ICC has been left concerned.
Speaking at the pre-tournament captains’ press conference in Mumbai on Thursday, Suryakumar Yadav said, “Our stance is absolutely clear. Our flight is booked, and we are going. Why does the Indian team still need to travel to Sri Lanka despite Pakistan’s boycott? According to the ICC rules, if Pakistan boycotts the match against India, Pakistan will forfeit the two points from the match, which will be awarded to India. However, reports say that for India to officially receive those two points, the Indian team must strictly follow ICC protocols by being present at the scheduled venue on time, completing all match preparations, and waiting on the field for the Pakistan team as per the schedule.
