Australian Test Cricketer Usman Khawaja Announces Retirement from International Cricket

Australian Test cricketer Usman Khawaja has announced his retirement from international cricket. He will retire after playing the Pink Test in Sydney during the Ashes series. Khawaja, who began his first-class cricket career at the Sydney Cricket Ground, will retire after playing his 88th Test match. Usman Khawaja made his Test debut in 2011 and scored more than 6,000 runs during his 15-year Test career. In 2023, he was named ICC Test Cricketer of the Year and also received the Shane Warne Test Cricketer of the Year award. He was a key member of the Australian team that won the ICC World Test Championship in 2023.

Speaking about his retirement, Usman Khawaja said that his strongest feeling is one of contentment. He added that he feels fortunate to have played so many matches for Australia and hopes that he has inspired people through his journey. It is worth noting that Usman Khawaja has played 87 Test matches, 40 One Day Internationals, and 9 T20 Internationals. The final Test of the Ashes series will begin on January 4 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
