Bangladesh Out of T20 World Cup; ICC Announces Inclusion of Scotland.

by Shahrooz Ahmad

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced that Scotland will participate in the T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka, replacing Bangladesh. Bangladesh had refused to play its T20 World Cup matches in India and demanded that its matches be shifted from India to Sri Lanka. The ICC stated that detailed discussions were held on the matter for over three weeks, continuous contact was maintained with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), and all concerns raised by the BCB were thoroughly reviewed. According to the ICC, all issues were discussed with the BCB and assurances were also provided.

Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reiterated that Bangladesh is being treated unfairly and should be part of the T20 World Cup. He emphasized that Bangladesh is an equal member of the ICC, and if India was given favorable treatment in matters concerning Pakistan, the same should be extended to Bangladesh. He termed this a double standard and said that no country can dictate to another. If such dictation continues, Pakistan has its own position and will continue to stand by it.
