First time participation of Pakistani player in FIFA Club World Cup

The participation of a Pakistani player in the FIFA Club World Cup has been confirmed for the first time. Pakistani footballer Haris Zeb has signed a contract with the New Zealand club “Auckland City”. Auckland City will participate in this year’s FIFA Club World Cup. . Auckland City qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup by winning the Oceania Champions League.

Auckland will compete against German club Bayern Munich, Argentina’s Boca Juniors and Portugal’s club Benfica in the FIFA Club World Cup. Haris Zeb has started training with Auckland City.

The 23-year-old Haris Zeb was called to the Pakistan team for the four-nation tournament in 2023. Haris Zeb could not play the event in Mauritius due to injury.

Born in New Zealand in 2001, Haris holds citizenship of Pakistan and New Zealand. On the basis of being a Pakistani citizen, Haris Zeb is eligible to represent the Pakistan Football Team. The young footballer has already informed the Pakistan Football Federation about his availability.
