Former English fast bowler Ken Shuttleworth has died at the age of 80. Ken Shuttleworth played 5 Tests and one ODI for England between 1970 and 1971.

He was part of England’s famous Ashes-winning team on the 1970-71 tour of Australia. He represented Lancashire and Leicestershire in first-class cricket. According to sources, Ken Shuttleworth died earlier this month, while Lancashire issued a statement confirming his death last week.

Right-arm fast bowler Ken Shuttleworth was known for his long run-ups, side-on action and quick pace. He took 484 wickets for Lancashire and a further 99 for Leicestershire in his first-class career.

Ken Shuttleworth also holds the distinction of taking the first ODI wicket for England in the first match in the history of ODI cricket against Australia in 1971. He later became a first-class umpire. In 2021, he was inducted into the Lancashire Hall of Fame.
