The International Cricket Council has removed match referee Andy Pycroft from Pakistan’s remaining Asia Cup matches at Pakistan’s request. The Pakistan Cricket Board had taken a clear stand that Andy Pycroft’s behavior during the match against India was biased and that he did not allow the traditional handshake at the time of the toss, which was against the spirit of the game.
In this regard, Pakistan had demanded that the ICC remove match referee Pycroft from the Asia Cup in the handshake issue in the Pakistan-India match. However, now in this regard, the Indian media has said that the Asia Cup has been a great success for the Pakistan Cricket Board and the ICC has accepted the demands of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and has removed match referee Andy Pycroft. It should be remembered that Pakistan had decided to take strict action and not play any more Asia Cup matches if referee Andy Pycroft was not replaced. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also consulted with top government officials today so that a strategy could be formulated in this case.
During the toss during the Pakistan-India match on Sunday, Andy Pycroft told Pakistan captain Salman Agha that there would be no handshake at the toss. Andy Pycroft had previously told the Pakistan media manager that all this should not be recorded. At the end of the match, manager Naveed Akram Cheema expressed his reservations to tournament director Andrew Russell, to which Andrew Russell said that we had received instructions from the Indian board and then said that these were actually instructions from the Indian government.
