ICC Is Not Indian but the International Cricket Council; Bangladesh’s Decision Not to Send Its Team to India Is Correct: Afridi

by Shahrooz Ahmad

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has termed Bangladesh’s decision not to send its team to India for the T20 World Cup as justified, following India’s move to drop Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL. Speaking to a private TV channel, Shahid Afridi reacted to India once again bringing politics into cricket, saying that this is a source of embarrassment for the world of cricket.

The former captain said that Bangladesh’s decision not to send its team to India for the T20 World Cup is absolutely correct and justified. He added that Narendra Modi has been a cause of embarrassment for India in the past and continues to be so. Afridi emphasized that all sensible stakeholders should sit together on this issue, stating that the ICC is not the “Indian Cricket Council” but the International Cricket Council. It is worth noting that Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was released by IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders after receiving threats from Hindu extremist groups. Following this incident, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) convened an emergency meeting and recommended to the government that the team should not be sent to India for the T20 World Cup.
