Indian Women’s Team Beat Sri Lanka to Win 8th Asia Cup Title

Dubai: The Indian women’s team defeated defending champions Sri Lanka in the Women’s Asia Cup to win the Asia Cup title for the 8th time.

After winning the toss, the Indian women opted to bat first and scored 183 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted overs.

Openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave the team a brilliant start of 129 runs. Shafali Verma scored 68 and Smriti Mandhana made 59. Richa Ghosh contributed 17 and captain Harmanpreet Kaur added 14 runs. For Sri Lanka, Muthali Ayodha, Chamari Athapaththu and Chamudi Prabodha took one wicket each.

In reply, the Sri Lanka women’s team was bowled out for 111 runs on the last ball of the 20th over. Captain Chamari Athapaththu scored 36 and Nilakshika Silva made 22. For India, Shreyanka Patil took 4 wickets and Deepti Sharma claimed 3 wickets.
