New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 9 wickets in the first T20 match. In the match played at the Oval Ground, New Zealand easily achieved the target of 92 runs set by Pakistan in the 11th over for the loss of one wicket.

The New Zealand captain won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first, but the Pakistani team was all out for 91 runs while batting first against New Zealand.

The Pakistani batting line-up against New Zealand struggled from the start of the match and 4 Pakistani players were dismissed for just 14 runs. Openers Muhammad Haris and Hassan Nawaz were dismissed for zero, Irfan Khan for one run and Shadab Khan for 3 runs. Khushdil Shah was the standout batsman for Pakistan with 32 runs while Salman Ali Agha scored 18 runs.

For New Zealand, Jacob Duffy got 4 wickets, Kyle Jamieson got 3 wickets, Ish Sodhi got 2 wickets and Zirke Falkes got 1 wicket.

For New Zealand, Tim Seifert played an innings of 44 runs, while Finn Allen scored 29 and Tim Robinson remained not out on 18 runs. For Pakistan, Abrar Ahmed got one wicket.
