New Zealand won the series by defeating Pakistan in the second ODI as well.

New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 84 runs in the second match of the three ODI series and took a significant lead in the series. In the match played at Seddon Park, Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first. The New Zealand team scored 292 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Chasing the target of 292 runs, the national team could only score 208 runs and the entire team was out, Faheem Ashraf scored 73 runs and Naseem Shah scored 51 runs for Pakistan.

The Kiwis innings ended with 292 runs for the loss of 8 players. On behalf of Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Sufian Moqim got 2 wickets each while Faheem Ashraf, Akif Javed and Haris Rauf got one wicket each.

It should be noted that 4 changes were made in the Pakistani team for the match. The Pakistani team consisted of Imam-ul-Haq, Abdullah Shafiq, Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan (captain), Salman Ali Agha, Tayyab Tahir, Faheem Ashraf, Muhammad Wasim Jr., Haris Rauf, Sufyan Muqim and Akif Javed. New Zealand took a two-nil lead in the 3-match ODI series.
