A world weightlifting competition will be held in Pakistan next year. According to the details, the World and Asian Masters Weightlifting Championship will start in Islamabad from February 6, 2026. A 5-member delegation from the World and Asian Masters Weightlifting Associations will visit Pakistan next month in this regard.
A delegation led by Dennis Offerman, head of the World Masters Weightlifting Organization, will arrive in Islamabad on September 9. The delegation will review the arrangements and hold important meetings. The five-member delegation also includes Asian Weightlifting President Muhammad Kabiri and Head of International Affairs Maryam Sabzali.
Maryam Sabzali said that international competitions will promote the sport of weightlifting in Pakistan. Arshad Khan, President of the Pakistan Masters Weightlifting Association, said that more than 50 countries have confirmed their participation in the mega event. He said that Pakistan has been given the opportunity to host this championship, and we all have to work together to make it a historic event.
