Pakistani players won all the trophies in the fourth Gateway International Scrabble Tournament after lifting the flags of victory at the World Youth Scrabble Championship in Kuala Lumpur. The 3-day event saw the participation of 80 players from 9 countries, including world number 4 Thacha Ko Virat.
In the senior category, former Asian Youth Champion Hisham Hadi Khan was declared the winner, winning 17 out of 24 games and achieving an impressive spread of 1190. 14-year-old Ahmed Salman finished second, while former World Youth Champion Affan Salman also put in a stellar performance to claim third position.
Pakistan also competed in the youth category, with Misbah-ur-Rehman winning the title, while Shah Jahan Ahmed was second and Musab Faridi was seventh. This great success by the Pakistan Scrabble Association players is proof that young players are rapidly making their way among the world’s top Scrabble players.
