Sri Lankan batter Vieran Chamoditha has set a new world record for the highest individual score in the history of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. On Saturday, during the ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Chamoditha produced a brilliant performance against Japan to create history.
Playing at the Namibia Cricket Ground, Chamoditha scored a magnificent 192 runs off 143 balls against Japan, which is now the highest individual score in Under-19 World Cup history. His memorable innings included 26 fours and one six. With this knock, Chamoditha broke the previous record of 191 runs set by his fellow Sri Lankan Hasitha Boyagoda against Kenya in 2018. During this historic innings, Chamoditha and opening partner Dimantha Mahawithana put together a 328-run partnership, the highest partnership for any wicket in the history of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup.
