Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara has announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket at the age of 37. The Test specialist shared the news on X, expressing gratitude to fans, teammates, and coaches for their support throughout his career.
Pujara played 103 Tests and five ODIs after making his debut in 2010. He scored 7,195 Test runs at an average of 43.60, including 19 centuries. Known for his patience and resilience, Pujara was the backbone of India’s batting in several iconic wins, especially in Australia.
Some of his finest knocks include a double century against England in 2012, a match-saving 132* in Southampton in 2018, and his marathon 202 in Ranchi against Australia in 2017, where he batted for more than 11 hours.
Pujara’s grit was key to India’s historic series victories in Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21, cementing his place as one of the most dependable Test batters of his generation.
