Great Britain defeated Pakistan to win the bronze medal in the Sultan of Johor Hockey Cup. The third-place match of the Sultan of Johor Hockey Cup was played between the teams of Pakistan and Great Britain in the Malaysian city of Johor Baru, in which Great Britain defeated Pakistan by 3 goals to 2.
Great Britain had taken the lead by scoring two goals in the first quarter. Pakistan equalised through goals from captain Hanan Shahid in the second quarter and Sufyan Khan in the fourth and final quarter, but with four minutes remaining, Great Britain’s Henry Markham scored to make the score 2-3.
Britain’s lead remained until the end of the match. And thus, Britain defeated Pakistan to win the bronze medal. In the event, the Pakistan team only managed to defeat Malaysia, Pakistan secured fourth position in the 6-team tournament.
