The Indian cricket team is gearing up for the Asia Cup 2025, which kicks off in the United Arab Emirates on September 9. The opening clash will see Afghanistan taking on Hong Kong at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
India will begin their campaign a day later, on September 10, against hosts UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Unlike previous tournaments, the squad will not fly out together this time. Instead, players are set to travel individually from their respective cities and regroup in Dubai on September 4.
According to Indian media, the move has been made to save time and simplify logistics.
“All players will reach Dubai by the evening of September 4, and the first nets session will be held the next day at the ICC Academy,” a senior BCCI official confirmed.
“It’s more convenient for players to fly directly from their home cities rather than first assembling in Mumbai and then flying out together,” the official added.
India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, with Shubman Gill as his deputy for the T20 tournament. The team has been placed in Group A, alongside Pakistan, UAE, and Oman.
