DUBAI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to make a final decision today (Wednesday) regarding participation in the Asia Cup. A PCB spokesperson confirmed that consultations are still underway and any decision will be taken keeping national interest in view.
Meanwhile, sources revealed that consensus has been reached to remove controversial referee Andy Pycroft from Pakistan’s matches. Former West Indies captain Richie Richardson is likely to be appointed as match referee in his place.
On Tuesday night, Pakistani players held an intensive three-hour training session at the ICC Academy Ground. However, the scheduled press conference was cancelled. At the same venue, Indian players also carried out their practice drills.
If matters are finalized, Pakistan will face the UAE on Wednesday at the Dubai Cricket Stadium. A victory would secure their place in the Super Four stage, setting up another clash against India on Sunday.
