Franchises have announced their player retentions for Pakistan Super League Season 11. For the first time in PSL history, a major change has been introduced in the player selection process. The traditional draft system has been replaced with an auction-based model. Under the new system, franchises will be allowed to retain only one player from each category instead of retaining up to eight players, while the remaining players will be selected through an auction. On Tuesday, franchises officially announced their retentions for PSL 11.
Lahore Qalandars retained captain Shaheen Afridi in the Platinum category for PSL 11. However, Haris Rauf and Fakhar Zaman were released from the Platinum category. In the Diamond category, Abdullah Shafique was retained, while Sikandar Raza was retained in the Gold category and Muhammad Naeem in the Silver category. From the Diamond category, Salman Mirza was released. From the Gold category, Zaman Khan, Jahandad Khan, Asif Afridi and Asif Ali were released. Muhammad Akhlaq and Muhammad Aazib were released from the Silver category.

Karachi Kings retained fast bowler Hasan Ali in the Platinum category. Abbas Afridi was retained in the Diamond category, Khushdil Shah in the Gold category, and Saad Baig in the Emerging category.
Islamabad United retained Shadab Khan in the Platinum category, Salman Irshad in the Gold category, and Andries Gous in the Silver category. The franchise released Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Ali Agha, Mohammad Nawaz and Imad Wasim from the Platinum category. Azam Khan, Haider Ali and Ruman Raees were released from the Gold category, while Muhammad Faiq and Haneen Shah were released from the Silver category.
Quetta Gladiators announced their retentions for PSL 11, retaining Abrar Ahmed in the Platinum category. Usman Tariq was retained in the Diamond category, Hasan Nawaz in the Gold category, and Haseen Hussain in the Emerging category. Quetta Gladiators released Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf from the Platinum category. Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Wasim Jr. were released from the Diamond category. Additionally, Khurram Shehzad, Haseebullah Khan, Khawaja Nafay and Danish Aziz were released from the Gold category, while Mohammad Zeeshan was released from the Emerging category.

For the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, Peshawar Zalmi have decided to retain captain Babar Azam. According to sources, the franchise has decided to release Saim Ayub. It is worth noting that the deadline for retaining players ahead of the auction for the two new teams is February 6.
