United Arab Emirates cricket team captain Mohammad Wasim broke the important record of former Indian T20 team captain Rohit Sharma. UAE captain Mohammad Wasim on Monday registered his name in the record books.

Mohammad Wasim surpassed India’s Rohit Sharma to become the captain to hit the most sixes in T20 Internationals during a tri-series match against Afghanistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Wasim showed off his batting prowess in reply to Afghanistan’s target of 189, scoring a blistering 67 runs off just 37 balls, which included 6 towering sixes and 4 fours.

The UAE captain has hit 110 sixes in just 54 T20 International innings, while Rohit Sharma has hit 105 sixes in 62 innings as captain. Mohammad Wasim, with his blistering batting, has also surpassed former New Zealand opener Martin Guptill to become the second batsman to hit the most sixes in T20 Internationals.

The record for hitting the most sixes in T20 Internationals is still held by Rohit Sharma, who has hit 205 sixes in 159 matches, while UAE’s Mohammad Wasim has hit 176 sixes in 80 matches.

It should be noted that despite Mohammad Wasim’s brilliant innings, UAE failed to chase down Afghanistan’s target of 189 runs and could only score 150 runs in the allotted 20 overs and were defeated by 38 runs.
