During the first ODI between Australia and India in Perth recently, new ‘blue’ lines were seen prominently between the wide lines and the stumps on either side of the wicket. During the India-Australia ODI series, fans noticed that something new or different was looking up regarding the wide balls going to the leg side.
New yellow lines were seen on the pitch along with wide lines in the first ODI between Bangladesh and West Indies in Mirpur. Such lines have not been seen in international cricket before today. In fact, the law related to wide balls in international cricket is being changed soon and in this regard, the ICC has started experimenting with a new law of wide balls near the leg stump. This law is currently in the trial stage and if the experiment is successful, it will be officially implemented in all matches in white-ball cricket.
