West Indies set a unique world record in the history of ODI cricket. Two-time world champions West Indies became the first team in the world to bowl all 50 overs in an ODI match with spinners. West Indies used 5 spinners in the second ODI of the series against Bangladesh in Mirpur and the entire 50 overs were bowled by spinners. Aqeel Hussain, Roston Chase, Khare Pierre, Gadakesh Moti and Alec Athanasius bowled the overs for West Indies.
This is the first time in the 54-year history of ODI cricket that a team has bowled a full 50 overs with spinners. Earlier, Sri Lanka bowled 44 overs of spin against the West Indies in 1996. Sri Lanka also bowled 44 overs of spin against New Zealand in 1998 and against Australia in 2004.
