The Afghanistan cricket team has been fined by the ICC for a slow over-rate in the Test match against Zimbabwe. The only Test of the series was played between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan in Harare on October 20, in which the hosts Zimbabwe defeated Afghanistan by an innings and 73 runs. Afghanistan lost the match and was also fined for a slow over-rate.

The Afghanistan cricket team has been fined 25 percent of their match fee for a slow over-rate. The fine was imposed by ICC match referee Richie Richardson, who believes that the Afghanistan team was five overs behind in the allotted time. According to clause 2.22 of the ICC rules, if a team fails to complete its overs in the allotted time, a fine of 5 percent of the players’ match fee is imposed for each over. The Afghan captain has accepted the penalty, admitting his mistake for the slow over-rate.
